Job Description
Pay Range: $135,189 – $149,745. This role is eligible for an annual bonus.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sensory Leadership & Collaboration
Provide broad and deep sensory leadership in collaboration with Marketing, Innovation & Renovation, Quality, and R&D teams.
Ensure that all innovations and product renovations meet consumer expectations and align with business strategies.
Act as a key advisor in the integration of sensory insights into the product development process.
2. Consumer Research Integration & CSI Best Practices
Continuously seek opportunities to improve CSI best practices through innovation in sensory and consumer research.
Promote the use of Sensory and Consumer Research in the innovation and renovation processes.
Lead and contribute to the development of sensory-based strategies that enhance the overall consumer experience with products (Accelerated Shelf life, Real Time shelf life, ingredient changes, supplier changes, new formulations, renovations, Factory Sensory Training, etc.)
3. Sensory Execution & Service Excellence
Oversee and manage sensory practices to ensure the proficiency and performance of sensory activities within the organization.
Responsible for Implementation & Management of all Sensory and Shelf-Life Testing. Comparative Profiling, Monadic Profiling, Discriminative (Triangle test, Due Trio), In/ Out test, technical tasting, Panel Performance.
Provide the best sensory analytical services and training to factories, ensuring products meet high standards of sensory quality.
Monitor and ensure the integrity of sensory evaluations and testing methods.
4. Guidance & Expertise Sharing
Facilitate sensory training and knowledge-sharing sessions to upskill teams on best practices in sensory analysis.
Act as a subject-matter expert for sensory-related issues and provide ongoing support to cross-functional teams.
5. Sensory Process Management
Manage the execution of sensory activities across product development stages, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
Collaborate with R&D and Marketing teams to ensure that sensory insights are incorporated into product formulation.
6. Continuous Improvement
Lead efforts to continuously improve the sensory testing process and the overall sensory analysis techniques.
Evaluate and implement emerging sensory research technologies and methods.
Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities to ensure cutting-edge sensory practices are adopted.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Sensory Science, Consumer Behavior, or a related field required. Advanced degree (Master’s, Ph.D.) strongly desired.
Experience: At least 7-10 years of experience in sensory science, consumer research preferably in food and beverage industry, with a proven track record in product innovation and renovation.
Sensory Expertise: Strong knowledge of sensory methodologies, consumer research, and statistical analysis.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex sensory data into actionable insights.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive continuous improvement.
Project Management: Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a focus on delivering results on time and within scope.
Work Environment:
Collaborative team environment with frequent cross-functional interaction.
Travel to factories and market locations may be required. (Up to 15%)
Fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with the need to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
